TRANSCRIPT · FILE 08331 · SUBJECT SPEAKING

THE CITY STILL TALKS ABOUT BLUE CANVAS.
“SHINY MENACE.”
Ask about Blue Canvas in the Narrows and you get one detail: he has had the brown jacket mended so many times that nothing of the original is left.
TRANSCRIPT · SUBJECT SPEAKING
Start the tape. I came to the Narrows wanting one painting that finally looks like the inside of my head. You can see how that went. I'm talking to you from the Narrows, where the alleys are named after the people who disappeared in them.

(this line comes after the record's official end)A tailor in the Narrows once refused to mend the brown jacket again, saying there was nothing left to mend. I came back the next day with a second tailor, who mended it on the spot, in front of the first. That's the whole of it. More or less.
“THERE IS NOTHING ORIGINAL LEFT OF THE BROWN JACKET. HE SAYS IT IS STILL THE SAME ONE.”
He was thrown out of the Narrows crews for being 'too much'. He took it as a review.
THIS IS THE PART I LEFT OUT.
WHO STITCHED THE BROWN JACKET FIRST.
